Lincs Coast Birder: Gibraltar Point 01/09/13

Made the trip to Gib to catch up with Lincolnshire's first Short-toed Lark. In 22 years. The bird was very elusive and then when found it proved to be very mobile but I did manage a couple of record shots (see below). Other highlights: Garganey. 9 Curlew Sandpiper, 8 Spotted Redshank, 9 Greenshank, 3 Whimbrel, 2 Ruff, 2 Green Sandpiper, c100 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Common Buzzard, Barn Owl, Arctic Skua, Kingfisher, 30 Sandwich Tern, 5 Whinchat, 6 Yellow Wagtail. A visit to North Lincs today with. A singing male Cetti's Warbler. Ad male Marsh Harrier, Black-tailed Godwit, Water Rail, 2 Kingfishers, Willow Tit and skeins of Pink-footed Geese totalling 200 birds all noted. An afternoon visit to the fields of Elsham produced 2 Yellow-legged Gulls. Adult Common Gull with distinct white eye-crescents. Note: only a member of this blog may post a comment. Lincs Cattle Egret 12/09/13. Didn't get off from work until 17.40 so it was a scramble home, get changed, grab bins and camera and shoot for the Tetney Lock Cattle Egret. Hoping I connected before it flew off to roost. There for 18.30, I saw the bird for 10mins across the other side of the lock, then it flew off to roost - I got lucky. My 3rd Cattle Egret for Lincs.
